Blog entry by Sean…
We like the trees sculpture at the entrance. They looked like monsters raising their hands.
Faith was our tour guide. This tour guide can come in handy cos she knows everything in this park.
I don’t like this maze cos’ once I go in…. I’ll get lost. Finally, I made my way out. After which, I went back to find Shayne. But, Shayne was not in the maze!!!
Got out of this maze.
Trying to make some vapour
Me and the waterfall.
Shayne and Faith.
So, that is Sean’s 1st blog entry.
Since I am so busy with my work….. I’ll get Sean to blog on Tues instead. He shall contribute to this blog.
Papa told Sara that this is the …beginning of her fave fruit , banana.
Artistically inclined???
Over our dinner with Surfin yesterday. We debated whether artististically incline is nurtured or nature. Well, I have three children…looking at three of them, I am able to conclude that being artistic and able to draw is definately inborn. External factors and condusive environment may influence them, but they may not be interested and hence not able to draw naturally.
Now since we are on this note, let’s talk about Sean being ”artistic”….Sean being artistic? That is quite unheard of actually. That boy’s artistic cells = naught. I’m sure that same goes to Shayne as well. They are only good at all platforms of electronic games but just not drawing, which I wish they can draw a little better. By they way, picture this…. Sara is able to draw better than her two brothers.
Two nights ago, 11.30++pm to be exact, Sean told me that he has not finish his art homework. He has to hand in the completed art piece the following day. OMG…it’s already near 12 midnight… when it comes to art, it’ll take him hours to complete. I bet only a mother ( despite being REALLY tired) is able to stay up till 1am to complete his art work with him. Sean need guidance in his art work cos’ I just mentioned …zero art cells remember??
So, to start with, Sean showed me his incomplete artwork from last week art class… he asked me : “”mommy, how to continue this? I am drawing the 12 zodiac animals crossing the river” I looked at his incomplete picture… thought for a very long while – telling myself….it’s near impossible to complete it …cos’…
Firstly, his drawing is in a big mess.
Secondly, his incompleted artwork is in oil pastel. We do not have any oil pastel at home.
And
Thirdly, the animals he drew don’t look very animal like. OK, the sheep look a little sheepish, cow – if he never tell me- I may not know it’s a cow, the mouse on the cow - looks slightly like Mickey mouse. And the cat - is cat . Cat? Excuse me, Sean, is there cat in the 12 zodiac animals?
Anyway, he reluctantly started a new drawing. The picture composition and concept is his… to be honest, he is not too bad with his concept. His greatest weakness is : he has a concept but can’t execute it. There is a foreground and background, the finished banner and the trophy. He drew the grass, bushes, rainbow and butterflies. I taught him to draw all the animals and he contributed the rabbit.
He told me that he has to draw half sun and clouds. Subsequently, he insisted that he has to fill the background with dark blue. It will take him ages to fill that background with colours. So…I taught him that background need not necessarily be in solid colour, they can be patterned too. In this instance, the background is the sun ray and rainbow… lines as background.
He struggled with this cow. I taught him cows visual characteristics ( their nose and black patches). As for the mouse, it’s their sharp pointed nose. He added that whiskers. It’s very challenging teaching him art…..
…. is Sean artistically inclined???
cows eat grass and catepillar eats leaves
My mom sends and fetches Shayne and Sara to school everyday. She always relay the cute conversations she had with these two kiddos to me during dinner time.
This is from todays car ride:-
Sara: ” I want to go to gugu house.” She has been repeating and repeating this sentence DAILY since our returned from KL after CNY.|
Mom: ‘ It’s not holiday now, you cannot go because gugus have to work.”" Ah ma tried to explain.
Sara:” Why must they work?” She obviously understand what is work but perhaps she does not know the purpose of working.
Mom:” If they don’t work, they don’t have money. What do they eat? They have to eat grass?” Ah ma told her
Sara: ” Ah ma, gugus can’t eat grass? ” she corrected her Ah Ma. ” Grass are so dirty. Ah ma, only cows eat grass.”
Shayne:” Then, who eats leaves?” Her brother chipped in the conversation.
Sara:” Shayne, why you don’t know that catepillar eats leaves.”" She told her brother.
My mom asked me how does Sara knew that catepillar eats leaves…… I suppose it’s from Eric Carle’s book: The Very Hungry Catepillar.
Yup, cow eats grass, catepillar eats leaves and I gonna eat biscutes.
Excuse me mommy, you are blocking the TV
